LET US FIGHT THE MONSTER OF CORRUPTION

Ten Different Ways to Banish Corruption :

IMC Guidelines to Members

  1. Banish Corruption, in all forms, from : Your Life

  2. Seed of Corruption comes from bribe-giver; and bribe-taker helps it to fruition. Destroy the seed of corruption even before it is allowed to sprout.

  3. Don’t tolerate corruption, in any form, in: The life of your family members and friends

  4. Don’t abet in, but actively resist, corruption in Yours company and association.

  5. Don’t miss any opportunity to inspire and influence people around to live a clean life. Visit schools, colleges and such other fora to generate aversion in the youths against corrupt practices.

  6. Involve service organisations like the Rotary and Lions Clubs to launch public campaigns against corruption. Don’t compromise with corrupt practices, if indulged in by service organisations.

  7. Don’t accept, but speak out against spurious and adulterated products. Warn the shop owners against dealing in such products.

  8. Insist on taking receipts when you purchase any goods from shops. Make sure the receipt is genuine, and shopper has deducted tax due from you.

  9. Don’t vote for corrupt, dubious poll candidates and political parties. Try to actively find out the character of candidates and of political parties.

  10. Struggle to correct the systems by plugging loopholes, so that corruption has little scope to raise its ugly head. Systems corruption is far more important than fighting individual cases of corruption, which are not unimportant though.

Indian Merchants’ Chamber has set up the following machinery for banishing corruption from the country’s body politic, by

(a) interacting with members,
(b) identifying issues,
(c) studying, analyzing and developing responses; by
(d) disseminating information to business groups on laws, rules, procedures, practices, rights and liabilities, and by carrying out propaganda on the need to battle corruption on a wide front :

* An Anti-corruption Advisory Committee, with Mr Julio Ribeiro as Chairman:
* An Anti-corruption Coordination Cell : Mr. Satish Sahney as Co-Chairman
